Visqueen TorchOn Tanking Membrane is a robust waterproofing membrane, used for heavy duty tanking applications. Visqueen TorchOn Tanking Membrane can be used both vertically and horizontally below ground level to prevent the ingress of water due to hydrostatic pressure or above ground level to prevent damp. Visqueen TorchOn Tanking Membrane should be used along with Visqueen Tanking Primer, which is a highly penetrative moisture tolerant coating and provides the optimum surface to receive Visqueen TorchOn Tanking Membrane.
Ensure that the surface to be treated is free from loose particles, dry and frost free. Installation should be in accordance with, BS 8102. All surfaces should be sealed using Visqueen Tanking Primer and allowed to dry thoroughly. The membrane must be fully bonded to the prepared substrate using the torch-on application method. Side laps should be a minimum of 100mm and end laps must be a minimum of 150mm and the work should be set out with staggered laps between first and second layers. Ensure that a constant flow of bitumen is maintained across the whole width of the roll and that a bead of bitumen is extruded from each edge which demonstrates that a correct seal has been obtained. On vertical areas, the membrane should be cut to the appropriate length, bonded to the horizontally applied membrane and torch applied upwards.
- On external applications Visqueen Heavy Duty Protection Boards should be used
- Visqueen TorchOn Tanking is a 2 layer system when used as a tanking membrane below ground.
- Visqueen TorchOn Tanking membrane can be used as a one layer system when dealing with low levels of hydrostatic (water) pressure or above ground level but all laps must be a minimum of 150mm.
Full installation procedures are contained in the Visqueen TorchOn Tanking Membrane datasheet available as a download.
Visqueen TorchOn Tanking Membrane is for use in vertical or horizontal applications, such as underground basements, lift pits & retaining walls. It is recommended that substrates are always primed with Visqueen Tanking Primer. Visqueen TorchOn Tanking Membrane can be applied to concrete, smooth brick, blockwork and steel.
Visqueen TorchOn Tanking Membrane should be stored on end and kept dry. Visqueen TorchOn Tanking Membrane is classified as non hazardous when used in accordance with the relevant British Standard Code of Practice. Visqueen Tanking Primer should be stored in its original unopened container in a cool, dry area. Suitable protective clothing should be worn when using these materials and suitable fire fighting equipment must be available. Adequate ventilation must be ensured at all times during application.
